There is an interesting new commercial circulating as part of the “Change for Climate” campaign, organized by the City of Edmonton.

As a scholar of media, I couldn’t help but notice that the voice over (historically done by a man– as the voice of authority), in this case is done by a woman?

It is an interesting strategy. I’d like to know the ‘communications’ reasons behind the decision. But, it does reflect a certain reality: the fact that women often dominate the climate justice movements.

I hope, at some point, I’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the behind the scenes decisions that lead to this media campaign. There is an interesting set of stories there, no doubt.
